BIG BELLY SOLAR TRASH COMPACTORS PROPOSED FOR 71ST AND STONY ISLAND

South Shore Businesses:

I want to inform you of a proposal that's being put forth for the Commissioners in South Shore (SSA #42) 71st Stony.

The manufacturer of Big Belly and their local distributor, Crowley Engineering, LLC has visited Chicago and met with Commissioners last year.

The Chamber is now going into its third year as Service Provider for Special Service Area #42 (otherwise the area known as Stony Island, 67th-79th Street and 71st Street, Kimbark to South Shore Drive) in Chicago.

Big Belly Trash Compactors are now in several neighborhoods in the city, including South East Chicago, Wicker Park, Lakeview as well as the museum of Science and Industry and City has purchased for 63rd Street Beach and other locations.

Some area businesses, including ShoreBank, Payless Shoe Source support placing a unit near 71st Jeffery (N side), a heavy trafficted area. We are asking the Commissioners to vote on the matter at today's Commissioners' Meeting, Thursday, January 8, 2009 4:00 p.m. at BUFI Training Rm. 1803 E. 71st Street, Chicago, IL 60649. The Commissioners will be asked to consider purchasing at least 3 units, which may include AD Panels for Advertising opportunities of area businesses.
